Garda "Certificate of Good Standing" for UK

    Hello,

Apologies if this has been asked before. I have studied for the past three years in the UK and have been offered a job in the health service there. The HR Department have informed me that, as I have lived abroad in the last 5 years, I need a "Certificate of Good Standing" from the local Garda station where I last resided. After having a google I found a "Police Certificate" but this is just for visas and adoptions and it clearly states "They are not issued for employment or any other purpose." This is on top of the usual Criminal Records Check.

Does anyone know what they are referring to and how I can go about obtaining one?

    Thanks very much,

    Kevin

I don't think so, as I am getting a Vetting by the UK Police, which as far as I'm aware will involve contacting the Gardai as I've lived in Ireland in the last five years. That's all I've needed for previous jobs.

have you tried calling in to your local Garda station and asking for one? It may just be that easy ....

You won't get one from a local garda station. They only issue those for countries that need visas or for adoptions. They won't issue a certificate for a job application.
