I got a pair of these recently, but the 2014 models, from this website. For some reason, the 2012 ones are now on the site. Including postage, they were 711.00 euro

Delivery time was about 7 or 8 days. Tracking was easy and regularly updated.
Payment was by PayPal, No problems.
Although, it didn't mention them on the site, I was half expecting wheel bags.
    I was disappointed.
The cheapest "Red" ones, that I could find were almost 300 Euro dearer. I couldn't justify the price difference.
My previous best wheels were Fulcrum Racing 3s. The Zeros are noticeably quicker.

Cool, thanks, yea i'm upgrading from Fulcrum 5's which I've worn out, figure i might as well get the best wheels i can afford with a view towards the inevitability of always wanting something better :) I'm also looking at this site too http://www.bike-discount.de/en/shop/set-racing-zero-2381 which also has great deals on last years wheels

    @eamonator @monkeyslayer
What is the status with the Fulcrum 3's and 5's respectively??
Are they any use for parts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 940 ✭✭✭monkeyslayer

My 5's are fine, two years old, could probably use a wash, recently had the hubs serviced, I just want something snappier... are you thinking of some sort of trade?

My Fulcrum Racing 3s are perfect, 2010s. I have them on a newly renovated 1989 Peugeot 653

What part do you need from the rear wheel?

Are they 10 speed sram compatible? And what kind of condition are the rims and milage on hubs?

    No problem!

For the hammering that wheels take, I'd go for 2 pairs of Fulcrum Racing 3's:)

Yes 10 speed compatible and I am running shimano so assume SRAM compatible. Very good condition, I've mostly used them for hilly races/sportives, i ride cosmics in most events. I'd guess 2k-3k km.

Do you know something?, I came to that very same conclusion yesterday, far too late to be any good to myself.
The Fulcrum Racing 3s are a great wheel, relatively light, strong, and at the moment, cheap.

Would there be a noticeable jump in feel from the 5's? I had the pre carbon carbones before and I loved them on a dry day on good roads, even climbing, but the slish slosh in the inevitable wet, wind and pothole anger factor threw me off ever getting the new ones. I loved the stiffness and the way they just wanted to roll, hence the zeroes, would 3's be enough? I'm kinda willing to spend now rather than wanna upgrade again next year.

The Zeros have ceramic bearings, carbon hubs, better spokes, have a nicer feel, are lighter than the 3s and look lovely.
But they are over twice the price.

I have the 3's and the 5's and had 2 sets of Mavic Kysrium Equipes.

The 3's are a lovely set of wheels and believe me, the 5's run them quite close..

With the state of some roads, I would be very hesitant in spending huge money on factory wheels, no matter how well reviewed they are-Ideally I would like to have a perfectly true spare set of wheels that I could just swap in and out as wheels take a pounding!-we really don't have generally good surfaces in this country as well as having a policy to place sunk man hole covers and drains either in the cyclebroken Heineken bottle lanes or right on the ride line on the side of the road.

Having had to replace the wheels on both the training bike and the good bike in the last year, as factory wheels go, the Fulcrums are very good value and have stayed a lot truer than either set of Mavics did.

That said, the Zondas are very well priced at the moment (320 on swim bike run) but as bargains go, I think these were quite a steal for training wheels...Linky

Bought the red zeros brand new after all, reckon I'll be pretty happy with them, mine to wreck from scratch and not have to worry too much about servicing for a long time (hopefully).

I'll keeps the 5's too I'd imagine they're good for another winter at the very least. Thanks for all the advice though! Those Zondas seem ridiculously light for the price, whats the catch? And the superleggra are really 2.2kg's??
