The woman told Arklow District Court that the man claimed he was a priest who specialised in exorcism, and he purchased a “Mass kit” containing a cross and holy water, the Irish Times reports.

The man would carry out an exorcism in a room that he thought was possessed. He claimed the family’s Bible caught fire while he was performing an exorcism, the court heard.

When the woman once complained that she had a headache, the man told her she was possessed and he attempted an exorcism, the court heard.

“He said I had a demon of some sort,” the woman told Judge David Kennedy.

The woman said she believed her ex-partner talked in this manner in order to intimidate her.

I know I probably shouldn't laugh at this he sounds like a right nut but I would loved to have witnessed this.

The power of Christ compels you. Flicks lighter. Oh **** my Bible caught fire

He also claimed he was mentally ill

I'd be inclined to believe him on that one.
