    Hi All.

My mothers 15 year old hot water cylinder has pin holes, so we need to replace it.It's a slimline single coil (oil fed only). The plumber has gotten me prices for copper @ €165 and grade 2 copper @ €260, both with only 6 month warranty. He also got a price of €440 for a stainless steel tank which comes with a 15 year warranty.

I've heard the quality of copper is pretty poor these days and that we may not get 15 years out of a replacement. I'd be grateful for any insight and advice you guys can give.

What do you guys think, are copper tanks that bad now?

Is grade 2 worth the extra over the standard?

Or is the way to go just to bite the bullet and shell out for a stainless steel tank?

    Thanks.
