Surely phones in China cost a fraction of what they cost here. If not, ship without the battery, I'm sure they'll get one of those very cheap, after all it's probably made there.

Package phone up, don't say it is a phone, fingers crossed.

They said it to me when I wanted to post phone to Scotland. I went back in an hour later with same package and said it was a hard drive. Phone arrived without problem. Some get through some don't. Stupid rule.

Im posting this to a customer, can hardly ask them to buy their own battery.
I don't want to take the risk of sending it non declared, if it is held up in customs etc...

Anyone ever tried fedex or DHL etc?

Seems like a strange forum to post a question like that.

However , good luck getting that into China , their Customs are very hot on anything being shipped INTO the country , they basically don't allow anything in.

When something is known for exploding and causing a rapidly expanding almost unstoppable electric fire where the only way to deal with it is to let it burn out I think they are right to be nervous putting it on a plane.

It's not likely but it's possible, so putting it on a plane is risking peoples lives.

Send it on a slow boat to China.

I'd say 99% of passengers on any given flight carry mobile phones.

Where in China are you sending it to.. I have a friend in Shanghai who said that the person would have to pay duty on delivery.. Could be 10% of the value.
To post a card or letter can take a month to be delivered.. Even if the address is written in Chinese..

I live in Taiwan and they've completely stopped anyone sending Li-Ion batteries here. I'm guessing China has the same policy now. Funny thing is some countries don't have a problem with it at all.

For those that mentioned lots of people bringing them on aeroplanes, yes, you can bring them on board, but you can't check them in. They're very strict about that now. It's likely to do with the air pressure and how the batteries react to it.

You could probably ship it by sea I guess, but it would take months.

Good luck posting to China, I speak from much experience trying when I was dating my now wife.
Stuff can take months to get there, if indeed it arrives at all.
If its not written in Chinese writing more than likely it will go missing, unless you are shipping via Fedex or DHL, which seem to be the only reliable way to send packages but cost an arm and a leg to do so.
