I wouldn't be recommending that to anyone. The 1st generation is very long in the tooth and and putting money into a similar priced android device would be a much better investment

I'd agree, I have one and its at the stage where the ios (which is up-to-date) is so old newer apps won't even run on it.

Really, just don't get one of these, they are 4 year old bits of kit, with single core cpus and 256mb of Ram. (even at the time it was critized for being a 3gs with a big screen, it was the iPad 2 It won't be able to use any sort of recent apps.

Web Browsing is probably agony. They use IOS 5, the latest version is 7 and 8 is in Beta. If you want iPad on the cheap I think the 1st Gen Mini is the best value.

My two cents is that android has more than caught up in the tablet game, personally if I wanted a 10" tablet I think I would try and Onda from one of the chinese sites. A safer bet though would be a Nexus 7.
