Not sure if there is another thread on this.

First two Irish athletes have competed in 800m. Aislinn Crossey finished 8th in heat 3 in 2.08.06 and Siofra Cleirigh-Buttner finished 6th in heat 4 in 2.08.50. Both fail to qualify. Bit disappointing as 2.07.04 was good enough for a fastest loser.

Better news for Emma O'Hara in the hammer as she qualified for the final with a throw of 57.17.

In the Heptathlon, Britain's Morgan Lake jumped 1.94 in the high jump, a WJR for the HJ. She leads with 3events to go. A conveyor belt of heptathletes in the UK it seems.

A new WJR in the womens 10k walk with a time of 42:47. Some girl from Czech Republic. Unreal fast time and to think I only did a 6 mile run today in that time which included some fast strides!

Two gold medals for GB so far, Morgan Lake in the Heptathlon and another gold from the womens 100m.

Also very surprising to see that the Jamaicans had nobody in the mens 100m final.

Emma O'Hara finished 11th in the Hammer.

Marcus Lawler (21.58) and Zak Irwin (21.78) failed to progress from the heats of 200m.

Eurosport 1 & 2 are covering this, in between Commonwealth Games footage. T&F fans are spoiled this weekend!

Any idea what Irish athletes are competing today and weekend?

    Cheers

New WJR in Men's 110m Hurdles 12.99. Belocian (France).
Beating Liu Xiang's record that stood for 12 years.
The French are producing some top sprinters and hurdlers in recent years.

Been trying to avoid this thread given the lag between coverages and actual races in real time. Some phenomenal performances so far.

-Micheal O'Hara looks to have made a seemless transition from youth to Junior level. Looked very polished in the semi's

    - Tenorio showed great mental strength after winning her appeal and effectively running a time trial in the heats before going on to medal in the 100m

    - New WJR for the French lad, seem to be really churning them out this year as the French have been amongst the best all season

    Really useful doc. Thanks ecoli.

Hayward field looks like a 'bucket-list' venue for me to visit and run. :)

Liu Xiang wasn't even in the top ten. The previous record was 13.08 by Wayne Davis.

The point missed here is that a few years ago the Men's junior hurdles were lowered to 99cm from the senior 108cm (3'3" from 3'6"), and Liu ran almost all of his races over the senior hurdles.

Hinriksdottir definitely changed the dyanmics of the 800. Pace was lightning fast and certainly killed off the Cuban along with herself. I think paced races will suit her as she gets older but a bit more tactical awareness as she matures and she could be phenomenal.

Cain looked a class apart from the field in the 3000m, will be interesting to see now how she progresses now that she has finished with High School and will move to Salazar's group full time

    Interesting. Thanks for that.

My excuse :Eurosport need to update their stats. :)They had Xiang listed for WJR for the (then) record in 2002. IAAF website today said that Belocian bettered the WJR 13.14 set by Eddie Lovett. But as you say, should have been Wayne Davis 13.08.
    Lies, damned lies and statistics!
