The station you wouldn't miss if it was no longer broadcasting

The other thread got me thinking on this. Which radio station is completely off your radar to such an extent that you wouldn't notice if it were no longer on air?

For me its R na G and Lyric fm. Honourable mentions too for Spirit Radio and Life FM. Nothing against anyone involved with these stations but they have no appeal to me.

98FM and FM104 and you could throw 2FM in there now as well

    RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta.

    Oh, and Raidió na Life.

Seriously - what is the point?

    4fm Robbie fogarty

Spirit is the only one that comes to mind tbh, but that's because I've listened to it for perhaps a sum total of 15 minutes.

Of the ones I listen to occasionally, probably 2FM. I'd rank RnaG and Lyric higher than it right now because they offer something unique and, IMO, valuable to market.

Spin, fm104, iRadio and I would have said Phantom before.

2fm probably, and there was a time I was glued to it!

What's spirit FM? Is it a local station?

    Spirit's a Christian station.

Raidio na Gaeltachta. Put it on transmitters in Ballydavid, Casla and Derrybeg and put it on 567 MW too.

I know it's not RTE's fault but in parts of Cork and Kerry a good few people in the evenings have a choice of arts on RTE R1, alternative music on 2fm, alternative music on RnaG and niche music on Lyric FM. Surely the 92-94 allocation can be put to better use.

Always thought 98FM104 were the same station playing the exact same sh1+e just an hour apart, like E4 & E4+1

Radio na gaeltachta - never bother with it

I'd not miss Ocean FM, in fact I hope Midwest get the license back. They have such a bland, mid-atlantic/mid-D4 sounding presenter lineup which grates my ears every time it's on.

    2FM - just awful

In Donegal, I wouldn't miss Ocean FM, nor RnaG. The FM band is pretty sparse here anyway, but those two I never listen to anyway.

Every thing on the fm frequency apart from Sunday miscellany , Bowman on Sunday. Liveline for a laugh and maybe john Creedon , the late debate with Audrey Carville only and off the ball , the rest is forgettable dross.
Forgot, the occasional 'documentary on one' where it's not condescending south dubs doing it and the rte dramas on Sunday night can be good although sometimes a bit freaky but that's the point of drama I suppose .

Wouldn't miss 4fm in the least. Terrible output overall.

Spin South West/103.8 & Lyric. Just not my type of music. I would miss Radio 1 though even if I don't listen to it that often.

Another vote for RnaG here. Put it on 567 and reassign 92-94 to something else, personally I think RTE Gold would be a better use of it, now that 2FM has been decimated.

Spirit would be on the list too.

Spin 103.8 where "celebrity" news seems to be all they want to talk about

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,043 ✭✭✭Markcheese

    C103 county sound (in cork)
    4 fm
    Lyric
Spirit (and other god squad radio) are they even legal
And most of 2fm (what are they for.. )

    Slava ukraini 🇺🇦

Where to start. South East Radio, 2FM, Spin, Radio na Gaeltachta, Newstalk (except for 'Off the Ball'), Today FM, and even RTE 1 - if they don't get rid of Mary Wilson, Des Cahill, Sean O'Rourke, Philip Boucher Hayes.....................aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

Radio used to be so good back in the day and now it's a blood pressure raising, endurance test as you frantically twiddle up and down the dial between stations trying to miss AD breaks and crap.
