Career Guidance recommendations

I am 27 and I feel like I have just fallen into my career path. I was made redundant in June but luckily found a new position, been here 6 weeks and it just doesn't seem like it is suitable to my natural skills and abilities, it is a professional role which I have a Masters in.

In my previous position there were aspects I truly enjoyed which are non existent in this position. In 6 weeks I have turned from being a happy chatty person, who wasn't completely confident in my abilities but had a can do attitude to some one who cries before work, has zero confidence in being able to do anything and it is all I talk about.

I need some direction and a new career path. I think a good first step would be to do some career guidance. I have done some research and the fees, in the Dublin area, seem to range wildly between 80e to 600e. I would greatly appreciate some advice and recommendations on this.

I did a month long training program as part of a larger module which falls somewhere between life and business coaching but which had a very practical work element to it (as in there were topical assignments which had to be completed about relevant business sector). As it was group work it also involved a lot of soft skills development and facilitated psychometric profiling which definitely aided in career direction and planning for me. Unfortunately the trainer is outside Dublin but I can pm you the details if you would like a better idea about what kind of information the course entails, it might help you in your own search for something similar.

Some counties have an Adult Education Guidance Service which is free to use once you make an appointment with one of the guidance councilors. I think they are normally part of the Education Training Boards (formerly the VEC's), could be worth talking to.

Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit low at the moment but you are thinking about taking steps to rectify your situation so that's a positive step. Good luck!
