    Hi all,

They're running the judo intervarsities in the Mardyke Arena sports complex in Cork in February 2015.

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction of the rules, weight categories and belt ranks.

    Thanks.

Assuming it's the same as other years. The rules are the standard judo rules, the weight categories are the standard weight categories , and the belt ranks are usually lower, middle and upper kyu with a special extra category for beginners who just started in the academic year.

The competitions going by weight and rank are separate to each other (as is standard), so if you go by rank the weight is open, and if you go by weight the rank is open. You can do both competitions if you wan, but black belts are not allowed to compete in the ranked competition, they must do the weights. There might also be an open weight, open rank competition, but they usually play it by ear on that. Also if there are a load competitors in one of the ranked divisions, they can split it to over/under 81kg.
