Laptop - No sound sometimes

    I have an Acer V3 and all had been going smoothly up until a few days ago when the sound randomly stops working and it needs a restart to bring it back.

    The sound will go on both programs like Winamp and also on in browser sites like Youtube. When I try to play a song on Winamp, the song wont even start and the numbers wont move from 00:00. On Youtube however the video will run as normal, however no sound comes out. The sound mixer also shows no activity even when a Youtube video is playing.

    I have tried reinstalling the sound drivers, system restore and a full virus scan with no luck. I had a similar problem on an older laptop but I cannot remember how I fixed it or if I did at all.

    Anyone come across this problem before?
