Tiny black fly/insects

Hi,
The are hundreds and hundreds of these little things in our apartment and we don't know what they are or indeed where they are coming from. Have a look at the pictures and let me know what they are and how we can prevent them. We're keeping the windows closed from today until we know how to keep them out.

They look like little fruit flies. How do you store your fruit and veg, and do you have a compost bin indoors?

Hi,
We store our fruit and veg in the fridge. They are even in the bedroom - would love to know what they are out of curiosity so if anyone does know please advise!

Photo has no detail so hard to say.
Some likely candidates here, get a magnifying glass and compare it to these beasties or others on the site.
