Hi guys, ive done a bit of shopping around lately and have basically narrowed it down to 3 bikes within my budget of €600

I've not been on a bike in about 10 years but I plan on getting into a bit of off roading as well as using the bike to commute to work.

The catch is I simply cannot choose between these 3 bikes, I'd be happy with any and I basically don't know enough about bikes to be able to tell which would be the better one

    And the 3 bikes:
    The Voodoo Hoodoo (€500)
    Carrera Fury (€600)
    Vitus Nucleus 275 (€573)

Any opinions on the above or even suggestions would be great :pac:
I'm hoping to pull the trigger by the end of the week and buy one

The canyon looks a nice bike. Wasn't sure on the 29ers though, had a look at a Cube Aim SL 29 in the shop and although it looked really well it's fairly sizable.

Would there be anything else of note around and any opinions on the 3 bikes I listed? I know there seems to be a bit of an anti halford sentiment around but the Fury and the Hoodoo do look a nice job tbf. Great reviews on Bike Radar and the like too

If you're going to commute with it a 29er is a good idea. Bigger wheels means less revolutions to distance traveled.

I have a giant talon 29er and I mostly use it for commuting.

The only downside is it's a bit bulky on those narrow trails.

The fury has the best forks the other 2 are only coil sprung, I bought one of the white ones a few years back it was a great bike better spec then than now though, but the basic elements are the same. Halfords are not always great at building or with back up after that's the down side.

    Thanks Paul

Would the Fury be worth the extra €100 given the specs?
The only thing that worries me about the Voodoo is that it seems a bit heavy at 14.1Kg

I'd obviously rather stay closer to the €500 price though. If the Fury is seriously worth the extra cash i would however most likely give in and get that one :p:rolleyes:

Do you have an AXA car insurance policy or do you know someone who does and you will get an extra 10% off. If you want to go off road at all go for something with the best forks, 14kg is kind of heavy I think my cube ltd pro was about 12kg

Tried to sort out an AXA plus card today as the missus has been with axa for over a year but never received a card.. as have the other 3 people I know with AXA.

Sadly the AXA branch told us that it can take up to 3 weeks for the card to be delivered so thats a no go considering the risk the stock could be gone. The 2015 Fury is out now and I was told today in Halfords that the Voodoos are basically being discontinued in the current form. The brand is breaking away from Joe Murray.

And with that today I decided on getting the Voodoo Hoodoo for €500. The manager in Halfords originally told me to go for the Fury but when I let him know the price dropped to €500 for the Voodoo he said there isnt even a choice. Especially considering most of my riding will be done on road with the off roading every so often. He was saying the the Hoodoo would be perfectly suited to my commuting needs while also giving the option to go on trails etc.

Very nice guy I must say. I went in there all set to by the Fury and he basically convinced me otherwise.
So unless something new pops up thats better value or worth the extra money I should be picking my Voodoo Hoodoo up over the weekend :pac:
