I'm looking to rent a room and start looking for place, just wondered what should I look out for?
I'm looking for hints like, check the bills in winter not just summer, check is my deposit going to landlord or just someone moving out etc etc.
    Any advice would be great.

do not move in to a house/apartment with storage heating.
    that is all
If there is any sign of a humidifier then run a mile.

I spent a year in an apartment with storage heating. They aren't that bad. The problem is many don't understand them or use them properly. I bought an owl in Argos to measure the electricity consumption and honestly it was ok.

Of course any heaters + poorly insulated + draught = bad time!
