Surely entitled to something

    Situation is:

I am 23, living at home with parents because I am doing a undergraduate course. I didn't go mature entry, I repeated a LC instead because I stood more of a chance of getting the course.

My parents work around the clock and have nothing to give me since they are getting screwed tax wise and I also need to move to accommodation to keep up with placement but I can barely afford the bus fare.

We have no social welfare payments.

I've applied to SUSI for this year and I am just wondering surely since I am 23, I'm entitled to a back to education allowance or some sort of initiative??

    Thanks

BTEA can be applied for if you are in receipt of social welfare for 9 months before you go to college. BTEA or a maintainence grant are payable, NOT both, so if you are approved by SUSI, they will still cover your fees, just not give anything else if you're getting BTEA. However, if you are not receiving any social welfare payment, and your parents are above the income limits SUSI set, there is nothing you can do as far as I know, they are quite strict on this....
