Can I work part-time and claim some kind of jobseekers benefit?

3 years ago I left a fulltime call centre job for a part-time job in the area I'm qualified in. This position was meant to change to a full-time position but after 3 years, there's still no sign in the job becoming full-time, and it's unlikely it'll become full-time any time soon!

I'm always looking for full time employment in my area but any jobs that come up always seem to be jobsbridge placements

Am I entitled to even part jobseekers benefit? I work 2 days per week.

Most likely not if you have been there for 3 years. If you had applied at the time it might have been different. Maybe FIS might be an option if you have a family. Sometimes agency work an a PT basis to supplement your income could be an option as well. Not steady but available

As you have been working part time for 3 years (presuming the same number of days) you would not be able to show a loss of employment and therefore could not claim jobseekers benefit.

You wouldnt qualify for jsb as you wont have any sub loss but you can apply for jobseekers allowance which is a means tested payment.

Thanks for that eastbono, I rang the citizen advice and they said the same, it would be jobseekers allowance that I would need to apply for.
