Okay here's the run down, I've a budget of roughly 5k and I'm looking for a 95% weekend car so I want something fun to drive with a bit of power and must also fit a baby seat in the back.

I'm not to fussed on economy but would like something stylish. I've been looking at RX8s but trying to find a good Irish one is a task in its self.

So I throw it over to you guys, can you recommend something for me.

You'd get a cracking E39 for that money and be left with a lot of change.

Probably get a decent E60 too.

Take a look at some E46 coupes if you don't need 4 doors.

You'd not get a decent size engine and well specced e60 for 5k.
e39 is the best bet here, you could get a good low miler 530i or 530d at that money and still have change over to tax it.

I was a bit weary of BMW, I've never had anything to do with them so I've no clue about the models.

E39 is one of the best BMWs ever made for my money.

Spend 2k on a good one, spend another 1-1.2k on tax, spend the change on hookers.

    Everyone wins.

e39 is still regarded as one of the best BMW's ever made. However I wouldnt get a sub2k one, unless I was planning to only use it for drifting.

    Spend 2.5-3k,
    get a proper minded one,
    .....
    profit ??

Our 1400 quid 6 pot came with a years NCT, bit of tax, new tyres and FSH. ;)

Granted manual box, no dead cow and not an M-Sport.

The last three (last two especially) are why it was 1400 and not 2400 imo.
Looking at the examples for sale now, I cannot find an m sport for less than 2k with NCT, and full cow.

You get what you pay for IMO, and in the e39's - beautiful car as they are anyway- are in a whole different league in M Sport spec. The m-para alloys alone take years off the car. Not to mention the msport mfsw and arguably better "feel" to the ride.

Subaru Legacy B4 RSK? You could get a very nice one for about 5k. This one is only €2.5k
