Broken tabs on the rear of Bryton 35

I had a minor spill yesterday where I bounced off a kerb and couldn't get righted and ended up going head over heels. I was lucky that I landed flat on my back with my bike on top of me still attached to cleats. But my Bryton 35 in SRAM mount tooka knock breaking both tabs off the rear. It's not possible to buy a new casing so it's effectively useless as I can't mount it to anything. I see this is quite a common problem with Garmin units (which have identical style tabs on the rear) Bar factory replacement has anyone successfully repaired or re-made tabs that will hold the unit in the mount. If the worst comes to the worst, I'll simply bond the unit to the mount which will mean having to remove the mount each time I need to charge it but the Bryton has a 30+ hour battery life so it's only every week or two that i need to do that.

I have re made a tab on my garmin 500. I used a product called bond-loc plastic weld (B3294). I was over in the UK when the tab broke and I got the product in a Halfords store over there.. I fashioned a rudimentary tab onto the back of the device, allowed to set and then filed down until it fitted. It may not look the best and I had meant to re-do it but it has held up since August 2012. see pic

Thanks for that. My whole day at work has gone to waste as I have been trying to come up with a solution other than bonding the unit to the mount!

So what I done was got a piece of 1mm thick aluminium and cut it (with ordinary office scissors) to the shape of the tabbed part on the rear of the unit. I'm going to sand down the original raised area where the tabs were down to about half it's original height and bond the aluminium tab onto the rear using Plastic Padding Steel weld ( which bonds to metal and hard plastics) and I'll clamp them together and leave for 24hrs.

I etched the rear of the aluminium with a small Screw driver and will do the same on the back of the unit. I'll also drill a few small holes in the alum piece to allow a better bond. Hopefully the whole thing should set solid for me.
