Replace bedroom floor or built in wardrobes first

    Hi all

Just after buying a second hand house and it's a "fixer upper". The master bedroom has some really old (but structurally sound) built in wardrobes and some fairly rotten carpets. Ultimately I'm going to replace both but the carpet needs to go asap.

Can I get some advice on what order I should do the work wardrobes or floors first? If I did the floors first and then replaced the wardrobes is that likely to cause problems? Should they both be done at the same time?

    Thanks

    Mark

Ideally the Wardrobes are better built off a solid Floor. But they can be done either way. If you fit wooden flooring up to the Wardrobes then it might be tricky to get new Wardrobes later to fit the same space.
In you're case if you're happy that the Wardrobes are ok for the time being then I'd just replace the Carpet. You can get nice Carpet remnants for a Bedroom for around 100 Euro. Then take you're time and replace the Wardrobes at a later date. Especially as you're going to have so much other work to be doing.
If it's an old house start with the level of insulation first. Get that right and everything else can follow. Otherwise when Winter comes you'll realise that you're working just to buy oil etc to keep the House warm.
    Good luck with the refurb.
