Just noticed a round for two in Fota for €119 on Groupon, would those of you that have played it think it's worth it?

Nice course but 60 quid ain't no great deal as I would rather walk the course. If you are someone that enjoys using buggies then the deal is pretty fair. I'd imagine the course is in great shape after the recent Irish open.

They have an open singles on Thurs/Fri 31st/1st for 40 euro
But tee times are limited to blocks like 3-3:30 for example being the latest. Anyone know if you call up would they let you play in comp later than this ?

It's a great track. Alongside Cork GC as the top two in Cork, well worth the trip. The original 18 slightly better (they have 27) but all good.

Their Groupon deals are always terrible though. They have open comps there fairly regularly and charge €40....better value and outside chance of a prize.

I can't link but if you go to their website and under visitor booking there's an open comp section, good few coming up.

Anyone interested in a 5:30ish tee time on Thurs 31st in the open there if they would let us out at that time ?

Bit unusual that they charge members the same as visitors?

Yes and check which course i.e. which 2 nines you are playing, played the newer 9 a couple of years back and didn't like it, the original 18 would be far better, in my view.

They are two great courses but I'm not sure I'd agree they are Cork's two best. The Old Head is a fantastic track too and my own personal favourite is Lee Valley.

Might have something to do with all of the members comp fees being included in the annual sub and so the opens are extras in that sense. Doesn't fully explain it but probably a factor.

A buddy of mine is a member and I've been told that the non-Irish Open 9 holes are not in good condition. I would demand that the original 18 are available to play.

At 60 euro I don't think it's a bargain - closer to off-season price. No need for a buggy either as the course is relatively flat and easy to get around.

Original 18 and it's a lovely course though.

Thats not surprising since they were using alot of it as a car park for the Irish Open !
