Pretty much no handbrake [cost to fix?]

I've a 2008 Peugeot 207. The handbrake works a good bit if it's pulled up as far as it will go. Anything else and the hand brake has zero effect. The handbrake cable is fine and I've been told it's probably the brake shoes.

Anybody have any other ideas what the problem could be?

If it is the brake shoes, would my car have brake pads and brake shoes, or is it just one or the other?

    Does your car have alloys?

Oh right, would have made figuring what brakes you have easier.
Its either drums or discs + pads.

Some cars have discs and a seperate handbrake shoe but I'm pretty sure the 207 is just old fashioned rear drums.

Ok. Thanks. I don't know if it's discs or drums.
    I don't know a lot about cars.
I just want to have an idea of what it would cost before I take it to a machanic.

New set of shoes about €30-40, should be less than an hours labour, so not too bad

Not DIY, moved to main forum.
Call in to 2/3 local mechanics for quotes and go with whoever you think is best.
