Creative uses for an old sock

I don't really have too many old socks spare, because I buy them in packs of 20 and if I find one with holes in it I horse it into the fire. Except for one sock that I have been using as an air filter for an oldschool vintage tiller from 1982. I went to this petrol equipment repair place in the middle of nowhere and the lad told me to use an old sock while he ordered in the proper one.

He wouldn't be the most organised type of lad. If you walked into his shed you would find a mountain of 100+ chainsaws and boxes of stuff on shelves that have been there since the 70's. So unsurprisingly the filter never arrived or he never bothered to order it. It dawned on me the other day that this sock has been in use for 10 years now.

If you're ever in Cork it's worth the trip down to see this lad's repair shop. It is more of a museum at this stage. If you need an excuse to go in just say you need an air filter for tiller from 1982 and to give you a call when it arrives (it won't arrive so don't worry and if it does I'll buy it)
