Possible road traffic offence?

Today, as I was driving towards a Garda controlled junction, I unintentionally disobeyed the instructions of the Garda on duty (the specifics of which are not important to this query). In the incident no damage was done and nobody was injured. I was pulled over and was asked to explain my version of the incident, which I did. I was then asked for my licence, which I provided. The Garda then took my licence and appeared to be writing or typing (not sure which), and returned the licence to me. I asked if there would be punishment arising from this incident, and he said there wouldn't. My query is, what would be have been writing/typing? And is there a chance something will in fact come of this (despite what he said)?

(If this thread is in the wrong section, please move. Thanks.)

I think the specifics are the most important part of the query tbh

I don't think they are, but for what it's worth: at the junction a Garda was talking to a driver in a different lane to the one I was in. The way ahead was clear and the light was green so I proceeded. I wasn't aware that there was another Garda directing traffic on a perpendicular street. The Garda on the road I was on made no effort to signal to me to stop. I accepted I was in the wrong.

He was just making a note of the incident, in case it needed to be followed up. That note includes your particulars. If, at a later stage, someone says "hey, you pulled a car a few months ago for disobeying a signal, can you remember who was driving?" he'll be able to say yes, and refer to his notebook.

If he said you're not in trouble, forget about it.

Exact same thing happened to me two weeks ago outside Marlay Park. Crossroads, didn't realize that another guard was controlling the perpendicular traffic - proceeded through the green, got pulled over. He took details and said it was just in case there was a follow up and he has to note these things.

    You'll be fine.

They have a list of people who "goofed". They were adding you to the list. It's the "Muppet List". First time offenders only get a shake of the head and raised eyes to heaven, second time on there, it's a stern talking to and a severe "ah, here, now that's enough of that" , third time, and its a fine.
