Thanks in advance for any suggestions and I know next to nothing about cars but all of a sudden there is a rattle like a bunch of keys being dragged under the car somewhere, doesn't matter if brakes are applied or changing gear, going fast or slow.

Sometimes this metallic rattle, like a metal on metal grating is there and sometimes not. It may be happening more frequently now too. If I bring it to mechanic the rattle may not occur.

What could it be?

It's difficult to diagnose without getting underneath the car,but from the sound you describe it could be the heatshield over the exhaust making the noise.

I had to remove a heat shield from my 06 Civic for the same reason.
