    they're old games designed to run on old operating systems. There are usually mods for those games to allow them to run on newer OS's but you'd have to look around for them on google

    Probably very old games made way before Windows 7 was made, though most of them should still work on Windows 7 if you actually install it.

    Worth a shot maybe.

    You can always right click a game's executable file, and select properties & "Compatibility mode" and then set it to XP or whatever you need.

    also GOG.com might have it on their site which modifies old games to work on newer OS's

    Anyone been able to get Fallout 3 working on Win 7, I've tried the edit ini. file to change the cores issue and compatibility options but i've no luck. Game always crashes when loading a new game

    Are you running mods? If so you may need to investigate which mod is causing an issue.

    If you bought it on steam, right click the game and go to properties and verify integrity of cache.

    can't get the game to start let alone mod it!! I've tried re-installing, disabling Net framework and never had any luck. Strange as people say its worked for them on win 7.

    I tried to reinstall Armada 1. Never got it running properly. Although speaking of Star Trek.... I'm you've now got me installing Bridge Commander. Loved that game when it first came out. Interested to see if the years have been kind to it.

    I was running Fallout 3 on my 32-bit Windows 7. I did have some issues in a certain part of the game but I managed to play that part by (I think, it's been a while) reducing my resolution. Try reducing the graphics settings and see it it works. You can always try increasing them later.

    What are your specifications?

    i had the same problem too, it's something to do with the game not being compatible with dual core/multi processors

    here's the fix
    If you're running Fallout 3 on a dual- or multi-core solution and experiencing frequent lockups or crashes to the desktop, make the following changes:

    Open the folder 'My Documents' / 'My Games' / 'Fallout3'
    Look for and open up the file FALLOUT.ini.
    Inside FALLOUT.ini look for a group called [general].
    Inside the general group, after all the configuration parameters, just copy and paste the following two lines:

    bUseThreadedAI=1
    iNumHWThreads=2

    Now save your work, close FALLOUT.ini, fire F3 up and get ready to enjoy the damn game the way it was meant to be played.
