Some great performances by Irish runners in today's Snowdon race. The usual route of 5 miles up and 5 miles down was curtailed slightly due to worsening weather concerns.

1st lady home was Sarah McCormack, Clonliffe. That's 2 years in a row an Irish lady has won Snowdon.

3rd place man, splitting a trio of Italian runners, was Tim O'Donoghue, East Cork, with what looked like a blistering descent. Not a bad debut on Snowdon! Particularly to finish ahead of Andi Jones who has won this event multiple times in recent years.

    Tremendous performances.

Great performance from both and all Irish, with James Kevan having a fantastic run too.
Looks like Tim's descent as the fastest on the day. Wnet out a bit fast on the climb according to Gerry on IMRA and still well within a minute of the win.
I'm delighted he's made his International debut. His times are heading towards sub 50 min for 10 mile on road and he is particularly gifted on hills.
His improvement in the various events he has targeted shows that he has the drive necessary to really reach his potential: His adaption to dominate in AR; his improvement in the Carrauntoohil race which puts him in the Lenihan, Bryson, Brooks league (at their best).
Now that he has entered this new arena...we'll see how far he can go. Reminiscent of Lenihan in talent and drive. A great chance of a win next year in this race at least all going well.

Super performance but to put him in the same bracket as Lenihan is a little overboard.Im sure John was World Champion in the hills and ran a low 60minute half marathon.

Yep 63:40 for the half and 49 something in Ballycotton for John.

Howver, Tim's performance on Carrauntoohil would rate in the top few performances ever there literally and it was ran with no opposition. I don't think there is any disputing that.

He's only run low 51 for Ballycotton but he's late to the party and he's still improving. He may match Johns time.

Id put Robbie Bryson and John Brooks in Lenihans league in mountain running and neither has come within an asses roar of Lenihans road times. And Tim is up there too in my opinion and still improving. His drive to be the best is another similarity with Lenihan.

He is a great runner in his own right. Unfair to compare 2 talents from 2 eras. That said, in June Tim's winning time on Carrauntoohil was fantastic, within a whisker of John's record, on a slightly different route but worthy of comparison. John won on Snowdon. That is something Tim can aspire to. Lets just enjoy great performances.

Nice footage of the race on S4C yesterday evening. Might be available online if they have a playback facility. Would have been very interesting to see how the race developed had it gone the full distance.

Last year they showed the same S4C coverage a couple of weeks afterwards on the early Saturday or Sunday morning slot, the one where they usually show these type of things, in English.

In every sport people compare just look at football and most people will try compare Messi & Maradonna.
I think you are getting carried away with regards Carrauntoohil.
John Lenihan was a 13.55 guy as a 20 year old for 5k.
No reason why he can't become one of the best of the present bunch but im sure the likes of Brian McMahon & a few others will put it up to him.
