So I'd never noticed these till last night when I went for a cycle.

It was a minefield of flyin feckers!

People on the footpaths looked like they were having seizures batting them away.

Is it just the evenings they come out for or is during the day as well out of curiosity?

From what I've read it seems to be on a humid evening around this time of year which last night certainly was.

I only say annual thread as I see from a quick search this isn't a new phenomenon.

    Better than a flying cockamouse.

My mother is plagued with them. They have made their way into the house and she has horror-film style scenes in the mornings as they all try to get through the kitchen window glass.
    Getting it sorted Monday. KILL!!!!

I have them in my porch. They 'hatched' on Thursday then yesterday eve they were everywhere. For miles. Not mine obviously.

I am a little awestruck at the synchronisation. Clever ants.

There's thousands of these things are everywhere in my neighborhood at the moment. And I live in Dublin, not the country where you'd expect this infestation. I find that they mostly come out in the evening time. There were loads of them yesterday. I've been using salt to kill them. It's the only thing that works. I've tried bug killer but it didn't seem to stop them in the slightest so I wouldn't advise anyone to waste their money on that stuff!

We had a small infestation of them in the kitchen the other day, all scurring around on the floor. None survived due to stuff being put down to kill them, and a large spider that came out of hiding to catch those unfortunate enough to become trapped in its web. There's hundreds of them in a compost bin at the end of the garden. One gentle kick of it sends them into a frenzy!

It is horseflies that are rampant around my parts, they bite like Suarez.
