Hi all was wondering if anyone could give advice on this. Basically I'm in my current job the last 6 years and well I'm fed up in my early twenties I've learned a lot in my time and very eager to move on. I've struggled with interviews in the last year trying to further myself within the company and there's no real positions available anymore and there won't be either. I'm on 12€ an hour here but today I had an interview with paddy power dial a bet on the phone and straight away at the end of the interview she offered me a second interview which was great because I was very confident as my current position is in a bookmakers so I knew what I was talkin about really. Only problem is the money starting off is 9.50 an hour and is part time contract. In my current job my contract is part time but I do full time hours. Was just wondering if anyone has worked in paddy power or even dial a bet that knows do they take long in moving you up to more money an hour and working your way up? I know I'm taking a huge pay cut but the company I'm in is horrible to work for and I wouldn't wish it on anyone the way you can be treated at times. I heard paddy power are excellent employers and financially I can afford the drop in wages for a few months but some people think I am mad but I've gotten to the stage were I need a change and feel I'll never go anywhere.
    Sorry for the essay! (Lol)

Fewer hours. Substantially less money. Zero employment rights for the first year (at least where you are you would get statutory redundancy if they shut up shop).. it doesn't sound like a move worth considering to be honest.
I noticed in a lot of callcentre jobs people don't "move up", they do their few years then leave.

If you can afford the drop in wages and that desperate for a change/move I would personally go for it.

You do need to develop a long term plan for yourself though or you may find yourself getting stuck in a low paid job for years.

Hi Slayer2223 i am working in Paddy Power Dial A Bet at the moment. Its a nice place to work but can be very stressful at times but assume if your working in a bookies you should be use to it. Money wise you build up from 9.73 i think after training to 11.16 depending on meeting certain stats every 3 months.

Far away hills are not always greener.

You're not happy in your current job - what about the PP job do you think will improve that?

    Thanks for the replies!!

Yes I think it will improve the way I am at the moment in my current job and from what I heard PP are great to work for, the interviewer did say that you never do your contract hours and asked would I be available to work 40 hours a week I've my second interview next week so my mind will be made up after That. Just the fear of actually leaving my job now after years is so scary joys of being an adult ey??? Sometimes have to take risks :-)

That's not too bad so. Cheers for that. What's the hours like?? You seem to not hate it anyway so that's not a bad thing and yeah it's stressful well used to it but sure look every job can be stressful

pp dial a bet is not worth switching jobs for

1 - Less money then your on
2 - Less hours, Don't fall for the "we give more hours then contract", thats a lie, the only times they give more hours is when the big races are on or the world cup, everything in between is less hours, at most you'd probably work an average of 24-30 hours a week over a 5 day period.
3 - its the sort of job students in college would go for, mainly because you will never go full time, you will never get a "promotion", theirs no room for progression, its not a career job at all.
4 - They are pr*cks in the place, its based in Tallaght, you have your good days and your bad days, like any other job, but this place has a 3strike rule, 3 mistakes and your out, most people in the place barely last 6months because they pull you up over anything.

I worked their for 8months just for an extra for quid for weekends, thats all the job is, extra pocket money if your living at home.

Seriously stick with your job or find something better for the experience you have, Paddy Power Part time Dial a bet, you could do alot better. You'd waste your time their

Hours can be anywhere from 8oc starts in the morning to 2oclock in the morning finishes but largely depends on what you contracted hours are. if your on the likes of a 8/10/16 hours you will mostly only be in for peak racing with the odd late/early shift

And that was a few months ago so I done well lol
