Just bought an 03 pajero 2.5. I have found that the brake peddle starts to jump back up and shudder when you brake hard at medium speed. Dose Anyone know what the problem maybe.

Warped discs would be the likely cause.

Is there ABS on it? If the pedal shudders, perhaps the ABS is kicking in for some reason?

Thank you for the quick reply. Yeah it feels like the abs is kicking in when you brake. Might have a look at the discs anyway just to rule them out. Thanks.

It does sound like ABS. Does it feel as if there is gravel under the pedal?

If it is warped discs and its that bad , the steering wheel will vibrate violently if the fronts are warped.
If its the back, pulling the handbrake slightly, may cause vibrations
