Heading to Budapest, getting the train to Debrecen and back. Any tips for travellers, how to's, what to avoid etc? I need to get to Nyugati station from the airport and I need to know whether to book a return train ticket or just buy singles in case I'm delayed. Should I expect staff in Budapest and Debrecen to speak English or will I have to deploy pidgin Hungarian? Thanks!!

From Budapest airport until Nyugati, you must take a bus number 200E the airport and the Kőbánya-Kispest metro terminal (metro line M3). From there, you can go to Nyugati railway station.

The bus takes around half an hour and the metro also.

You should find some "english speaking" machines because staff in Budapest but probably more in Debrecen won't really speak in English.

The Intercity is quite new but the Fast Train is quite old and is stopping quite a lot.
