Eye Exams Every Year? Switching from Specsavers

So I got a letter from Specsavers saying it was a year since my eyes were last checked. I didn't really pay much attention to it. A few weeks later I was in looking at glasses at the selection of glasses in my local Specsavers were very poor.

I am planning on getting an eye test in Vision Express when I am purchasing a pair of glasses there in the next week. And murphys law, I got a letter today again from Specavers saying I was due the eye test back at the end of March and to call to appoint one, claiming it was urgent.

I need glasses to drive so is it compulsory that I get the eye test every year? If I just get one with Vision Express do I have to inform Specsavers so they'll stop sending me letters? Haven't got an eye test from anywhere other than Specsavers before so not too sure.

Couldn't see a thread for this sort of question but if theres is on let me now and Ill move my post.

    Thanks

Once you get the eye test, ring your Specsavers store and they can close your account and you will stop getting the letters.

Ahh social confrontation :P Ill make it a brief call :P

Ya hardly know about the license situation no? Like do people who have to wear glasses driving need to be getting regular checks every year?

It's hard to comment without knowing all the details. Do you wear contact lenses? Is there a family history of eye problems? Usually it's a 2 year recall for an eye exams, but there could well be something they are monitoring.

No. There is no extra legal requirement on people with corrective glasses/lenses to have any examinations once they have passed the compulsory eye test/medical for the driving licence application. The next required test would be at the next licence renewal date.

That is not to say that you shouldn't have a check-up though.

If you do not want to engage with the opticians then just ignore the letters, they will eventually delete you from their active mail list.
