Just to update if anyone has same issue. I ordered it from VW costing 28 ex VAT and will attempt to fit myself using the guide above.

Just fitted a new one and no sign of life, motor for mirror is working fine. Would appreciate any advice as failed NCT, thanks

Did you stick a volt meter on the wiring for the indicator to see if it's getting any power?

Thanks for the suggestion. Pretty new to all this. If I do that and there's no power, any suggestions?or If there is power. Reckon I best check first rather than guessing ;-)

I assume it's not a fuse as the other side repeater is working, thanks again.

If there's no power, then you have a wiring problem. It could also be the indicator relay, but unlikely that it's only causing an issue on the mirror flasher on one side. If you have power, then it points to a bulb problem.

You'll pick one up for around €20. Where are you based? There may be someone nearby that could help.

Cheers, multimeter reads 12.5 V. Rang VW they reckon electrical contact cleaner as they fixed a similair issue recently.

Update - another new bulb unit on the way

How did you read 12V ?
its an indicator, - most multimeters cant read and show a decent readout that fast.

If there's 12v on one lead, connect this to any small 12v bulb (not LED), and the other lead to a good earth. Dont assume the metal of the door is a good earth. If the bulb lights continuously, then you can assume one of the 2 wires OK.

Mostly, you will have to chase the wiring back as far as you can, disconnect every connector, clean and check every pin.
look for the main door connector first.

Thanks for taking to time, I appreciate it.

Did use a multimeters on the connector that the repeater unit was plugged in to and got 12.5. Someone I know tried a 12V bulb (although used a LED one) and use the door lock connection on the chassis to ground. In fairness they weren't sure and clearly I am less so.

Any suggestion for someone that could fix this for me, am in south Dublin (Ballinteer) but would travel a bit and any guess on cost?

    Cheers
