Constantly getting not responding message

My computer has slowed down to the point every time yo try to do anything this "program not responding message" constantly comes up slowing down my work at home considerably( it once took me an hour to do something that would normally take 5-10 minutes) . My computer has slowed down to the point every time yo try to do anything this "program not responding message" constantly comes up slowing down my work at home considerably( it once took me an hour to do something that would normally take 5-10 minutes) . Is there any solution to this as it has nothing to do with virus/malware after performing an eset nod32 scan.my lapto is a Sony vaio

Might be worth trying malwarebytes just to rule out malware even though you have protection something may have been missed..

CCleaner might be worth the shot too..

After that id probably just reinstall windows..
