    Hi folks,
I'm self employed for about eight years now and have been trying to break into full time employment after graduating from college last year. I managed to secure work in Door to Door Sales for just under a year, and finished up a few months ago but so far have failed to pick up anything despite numerous applications. I don't even get to interview stage, and I don't ever get a reply (bar automated ones).

I graduated in computing but felt like a bit of a break from IT so have been managing my own business and doing a lot of tourism promotion, and working on social media (created a tourism page for my town, now at over 10k+ fans). I was considering doing a diploma in Marketing in September.

I mainly look at Jobs.ie but have also tried Monster.ie. The Sales jobs appear to be pretty much all door to door. I get no answer to marketing jobs and the IT Jobs are all Networking or Programming whereas I am more technical in repairing computers and managing them. I'm also considering whether to just do the CCNA course to freshen up my qualifications and IT knowledge.

Where would people recommend to get my CV looked at and to get advise on whether my cover letters are up to scratch and the like? Something appears to be at odds resulting in not even a response to job applications so I am wondering is it my CV or Cover Letter tbh.

If you pop into the Career's office in Trinity College Dublin they will look at it for you for a small fee.

I assume it wont be an issue if i'm not a graduate from Trinity?

As far as I'm aware, the charge is because you aren't a graduate/student.

It's been a while since I was in college, but to my recollection that's the case.

Email careers@tcd.ie just to make sure. It will save you the trouble of going all the way in if my information is incorrect!

    Good luck Sully!
