    Hi,

So about a month ago I did an interview for HSBC. The job was through an agency and the agency informed me that I had been successful in my interview and the next step was to do a credit and criminal background check.

3 weeks ago I sent off all the necessary documents for the checks but still no word from HSBC...

The girl in the agency has been just telling me " hopefully we will hear something soon " but doesn't it seem like a very long time to do a background check?

Also I rang up the agency today to see if there was any news but it turns out the girl I was dealing with is on holidays until Tuesday.. I was talking with a different guy on the phone who was saying that you never know with these companies..It could take a week a month or even 2 months.. Hes also said it could be possible that they have found someone else with more experience which all sounded a bit weird to me since they identified me as the candidate for the role and also closed the position to further applications the very next day

A bit confused..Anyone care to offer some insight?

    Thanks..

A credit check seems odd. What's the role?
