Binoculars Repair ?

Just came across an old pair of Olympus bins (10x 50) that I put aside years ago when I upgraded. I was thinking they would be a handy second pair to keep in the car for the unexpected birding opportunity. On viewing through them now however, I'm getting a kind of "double vision" effect in the eyepieces, but not when looking through each eyepiece separately - they have probably been thrown about a bit over the years and in recent spring cleans !
I'm just wondering if its possible to get them repaired or if its worth the effort. They are quite old and were bought in the UK, can't remember where exactly !
    Any thoughts would be welcome

Was in the same predicament myself a few years back, brought them to a guy to see if he could do anything with them.
He said no he cant, and the price it's going to cost you to send them away to be repaired plus the cost of the repair, you would buy a new pair he said.

I took them apart myself to see what's amiss and the prism (if that's the right word for it ) was chipped, so they ended up in the bin.

Funny enough, my pair of Opticrons kind of fell off a table  and the same thing- slight double vision, but fine through either lens. I brought them back to Conns Cameras where I had bought them (four years ago), expecting and hearing the dreaded phrase "maybe beyond economic repair", then another member of staff suggested unscrewing the "big end" lenses off (I didn't even know you could do this). Lo and behold, when I screwed them both back on, the bins were working fine!!
Apparently, sudden impacts can slightly misalign the big end, so resetting them can work. It is certainly worth trying and kudos to the staff in Conns for giving genuine customer service. It has a deserved reputation for not being cheap, but in fairness, they were bang-on in this case and it wasn't as if I had bought a pair of Leicas or Schworonolsiwis........or whatever they're called :)

trying tightening the screws on the exterior of the bincoulars, in particular the screws up near the eyepieces. You will need a tiny screwdriver to do it which you can buy in any pound shop if you don't have any. This exact thing happened to me in the past, where each eyepiece was fine to look through individually but blurred with both eyes, and a simple tightening of the screws (one has become slightly loose) fixed it. Give that a try and see.

the prism can be adjusted by means of a small grub screw hidden on the side of the binoculars,
i had a pair of tasco 10 by 50 with the same double vision problem, killed a wet sunday evening getting them right.http://youtu.be/WHtOJAgo-DM
