My local Tesco has the 100 spindle of DVD+r for €6.24 whereas all the smaller versions are more expensive. Seems a good deal. It was a normal white SEL

You're better off getting a Garth Brooks memory stick. Holds 5 Gigs.

But only 3 Gigs are available! :pac:

Also possible it just won't work at all.

works out at less than €14 per terrabyte , unaffected by the strongest magnets and can survive much higher g's when dropped than hard drives or tapes.

and unlike tapes can be easily read on most computers , at the very worst you'd have to phone a friend, tapes get snotty about version of backup software / OS service pack / drive firmware version / phase of moon

Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes DVD's hurtling down the highway.

Sounds like an awwwwwwwful lot of effort and inconvenience.

it is effort but you can backup 4gigs of photos on each disc and store them easily and very cheaply. Can never have enough backup......

They're very handy for booting up alternative live operating systems like Ubuntu etc. Nice to have older versions too without having to download them every time. Backup of images. Very handy for putting photos / video clips on for relatives who like to look at them on the telly. Reckon I've "lost" half a dozen USB sticks at this stage and SD cards seem to vanish into the ether whereas DVDs stay where they're put.....on the spindle for evermore, nobody's interested in "borrowing" them!!

    Then don't buy them.
