Looking for a bit of help here. I have a 9 hour lay over in Dubai airport next month and I´m looking for suggestions for something to do. I´m getting in to dubai just after midnight and flying out again just after 9 am. Ideally I´d like to get a bit of sleep somewhere. I see there is the Dubai International hotel in the Airport but they´re charging 100 euro but you do have use of a swimming pool and gym which would be great but it is a bit outside my budget.
Just looking for a bit of help in making the 9 hours bearable.
    Thanks in advance.

    Are you flying Emirates?
If so, this is a good deal: http://www.emirates.com/ie/english/plan_book/essential_information/dubai-connect/dubai-connect.aspx - you qualify time-wise, it also depends on how much you paid for your ticket.
    No harm contact them.

If you're flying with Emirates they may provide free accommodation if your layover is longer than 8 hours. It depends on your ticket - it's automatic with Business class and above but only some economy tickets qualify. It's worth checking out.

Thanks guys. I am travelling with Emirates and am aware of this service. I did get in contact with them about this but my ticket does not qualify for this. I forgot to mention that. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks

Well there are a lot of bars in the airport so you could get drunk? Hotel room would probably cost you less though. :(

You could pay for lounge access. I think it's about €35 for 4 hours. You can have a shower to freshen up and grab a few nibbles and drinks while you're there.

The Emirates Business lounge is very crowded, since it's such a busy hub. The First Class one is sweet. Ahem. (upgrade queen here).

Not sure if you've been in Dubai before or not but if not why not get a taxi downtown and go see the worlds tallest building or the Burj al Arab by night. There's plenty to see in Dubai at night and taxis there aren't massively expensive given the distances involved. You're also bound to come across a few fast food joints open 24hrs so if you wanna sit down for a while and use their wifi to kill an hour it'll only cost you the price of a coffee.

Just find yourself left luggage at Dubai airport and you're good to go explore, you'll have plenty of time to sleep on the plane:)

We got the cheapest ticket with Emirates with 9hr lay over a few months ago, about a month before we were due to fly i checked in manage my booking and up on the screen there it was we were entitled to a stop over hotel, i had rang emirates just after buying the ticket and they said i didnt qualify for the hotel.... So keep an eye on yr booking.

I was on the exact same flight and flying economy and they provided me with a hotel room next to the airport for free. I would check again with them. Anything 9 hours and above and they are obliged to get you the room.

They're not obliged to provide a room. The fact that they do it at all is above and beyond what's necessary. And it's perfectly fair that they don't provide a room on the cheapest tickets.
