This may be a little off subject, but still related.
I am on Job Seekers Benifit (stamps). I have a few months left until it comes to an end.
Can any one tell me if it is possible to suspend my payment for a few months. I am thinking
of leaving the country for 3 months (not for work) and I have heard that you can suspend your
payment for up to 26 weeks and just continue as you were when you come back.

If you are going away for 3 months your claim would be closed and you would have to apply again when you come back. a claim would not be left suspended for 3 months. The 26 weeks is the period within which the claim will link back to the previous claim, i.e. claim picks up where the previous claim left off.

    Thanks Sue Ellen,
So I would have to sign off for the 3 months and then sign on again on my return.
Would there be a waiting period when i sign on again?
I suppose I would have to give details of where I have been and my reasons for being there, which would be
    fair enough really.
    Thanks again for your insight.

Yes it would be sign off and sign back on. There is no waiting days as it is under 6 months. The claim should go into payment quickly enough but it will depend on the office and the level of pending claims at the time of your return. I would suggest keeping proof of travel dates as you might be asked to provide them. Good luck. ðŸ€
