Hi Can anyone tell me what the law is regarding planning permission for a Marquee. Plan on useing it for functions at the back of a pub for the summer months next year. Marquee would fallwithin the boundry of the licenced pemises.

    Around 1500 square foot.

    Rgds,

    Brían

+1 on BryanF, planning and also I would believe a licence extension. Local planning office will confirm very quickly or take local planning advice from architect / planning expert

The fun starts when council seek info on adequate toilets/sewage, additional waste area, access/car parking & adjacencies etc

You will probably need a fire safety certificate and disability access certificate too.

It's commendable that you are starting the process now OP. Plenty of people in the same situation as you would only start looking into it next March. You have 11 months to get the paperwork in order.

The marquee we are looking at will be installed in a existing beer garden.

All sides will be open so no access issues for disabled and fire certificate will be coming with marquee.

No need for additional toilets as they will be facilitated through existing premises. The licence of the premises is currently covered in the area that we propose to erect the marquee.

Would we still require planning, as it will be a tempory structure.

Seek advice from local planning authority.

Might be better to get a local building/planning professional to assist you in approaching the local authority. It could save you money in the long run.

If all sides are open there might be a better term than "Marquee" to describe it!

    Rgds,

Get the local GAA club and Aiken Promotions to apply for you and then ask for a judicial review if denied after you put it up.
