Tyre query

apologies in advance for the stupid question, but I recently got a pretty decent racing bike and planned on getting started with cycling during the summer.

I got one of those stand pumps from Lidl, which works fine on the front tyre but for some infuriating reason it does not work on the back tyre! how is this possible!? just to point out, the valves are exactly the same on both the front and back tyres

I know this is a bit vague, but is there any general reason why this would happen? as i said, really stupid question, but would appreciate any advice.

    thanks

You are unscrewing the little valve before trying to pump yes?

Often when you unscrew it for the first time in a long time you need to tap the valve to break the seal so you can then proceed to pump it.

Ya. As above post. Unscrew the little valve and press it down to let a little spurt of air out first.............

I got the track pump from Aldi and put the Lidl one in the bin, waste of money
