Why does it take 2 days to transfer funds from a savings account to a current account?

My wife is attending an event today however money she transferred from her savings on Monday at 5pm "may not be deposited until 10pm tonight (wednesday)" so she has had to borrow the money to attend the event

    Hi johnny_adidas,

Thank you for contacting us here on Boards.ie.

To help address your query directly, can we ask you to clarify which type of deposit account you are referring to, as some accounts require notice periods for any withdrawal requests.

More information on these notice periods can be found here on our website.

    Thanks,
    Elaine

Yes it's there alright, actually the example is exactly the same as her case, albeit the small print has to be zoomed to 400% to read.

I would suggest that it would be much more helpful to customers if Bank of Ireland allowed quicker online transfers rather than requiring it to be done in a branch. Not everyone has the time or the access to a branch to do so on short notice.

Ulster Bank for example allow immediate transfers online and can be withdrawn from the current account within minutes of doing so.
