Hope this is the correct place for this thread, Ok so I have recently been selling a few bits and bobs on ebay mostly to UK Customers but a good quarter of the goods I post some how seem to get lost in the post as my customers do not receive them, and in the process costing me a fortune to either refund or replace.

I used to use standard post and recently changed to registered post with An Post, the problem been though as soon as the parcel leaves Ireland I can no longer track it.

Has anyone any experience with a courier service or post service that you can track the good from when the leave Ireland.

Of course I would also like the cheapest option for me, the parcels I send are usually small in size and weight , any help be appreciated

I find it extremely hard to believe that you have lost almost 25% of your parcels sent to the UK by An Post. I have been trading online for 14 years or so and have only had one item go astray in that time. As for using other methods - in my experience couriers etc. work out cheaper for large items with tracking provided but for small items the postal service is way more competitive. I would have thought that your customers wouldn't be very impressed being asked to pay for registered mail for small items or do you absorb the costs yourself? If the latter, it must eat into your profits.

Again, I would say if you're really losing 25% of your shipments then the problem is you - are you addressing items properly, are you putting them in a rubbish bin rather than a pillar box. Sorry for the snotty reply but I'm really fed-up of the postal service being slagged off - we would all be the worse off if it went the way of the Dodo leaving us at the mercy of the hackers couriers.

You find it hard to believe trust me I was on the verge of meltown, my last shipment is sent 16 parcels each one I personally brought to the Post Office each was weighed the post mistress and stamped accordingly , a total of 5 parcels went missing...costing me nearly 400e

As I said I was sending standard mail but I sent replacement via registered so absored all the cost myself, and before sending I always confirm the address with customer and make sure I have it put correctly on envelope.

In truth I am not blaming An Post as they may have been delivered to UK and Royal Mail lost them in transit, in fact the only person I blame is myself for sending standard post and not having any come back when customers say they did not get the package

I didn't realise Parcel Motel deliver to UK I always just presumed that was for when you order goods that need a UK postcode

You can use Parcel Motel , but as far as I know the buyer would need to be a PM member .

Cheers for the Parcel Motel tip this looks like exactly what I need , just need to confirm now that my buyers don't need to be a PM customer

Buyer (reciever) does not need to be a PM member.

Only the sender needs to hold a PM account

There is something very strange about a 25% loss in the post. Have you complained to the Post Office !?
I have only returned one item using PM and it went OK. I think they will beat the post office rates anyday.

Yes I filled out one of those missing in post forms but I don't expect anything back, I am going to give parcel motel a try but can anyone tell me do you need a label printer as on their site it states you print out the barcode to put on package.

I only have a regular printer with A4 Paper so if I print on that and attach to parcel would that be ok

Yeah, you can just print it off and sellotape it onto the package.
