NCTS and Qashqai models query

Just wondering what Trim levels were offered on the Nissan Qashqai in Ireland in 2007?

We imported our Qashqai a few weeks back, got our VRT exemption letter and took the car to the NCTS today to have it registered in Ireland.

The NCTS couldn't find our model and as such needs to inform revenue  As a result we can't register the car for at least another 10 days.

    It's a 2.0L dCI (150 PS) Tekna, 2WD, manual.

We have the V5C (UK logbook), VIN numbers in 3 places on the car and every bit of documentation you can imagine for the car including purchase invoices, receipts, Nissan (and other) service records etc.

Surely NCTS can place a VIN in to a database and that would let them know what the car is and they could just register it as being present in Ireland?

Has anyone else heard of this happening before? How can this be an issue?

Not sure the 2.0DCI was available here in 2007 so it is an unusual model for the Irish market and the UK Tekna/Visia were never sold here. I wouldn't worry though, they will get it sorted.

I know it will get sorted but that was a 2 hour round trip this morning that now has to be completed again in over 10 days time. Waste of my *@%!&* time

I just don't understand how it's not possible to link VIN to a manufacturer's database and check the model so the car can be registered.
Also, funny how the NCTS website had no problem accepting our booking for the appointment and never highlighted that it couldn't find our model in the database. There should be a check at that stage.

Edit: Parker's website is back online. Yes that's the model,CO2 emissions and tax.

High spec model, leather heated seats, panoramic glass sunroof, bluetooth, electric folding mirrors, cruise control etc.

So far the whole experience of getting VRT exemption has been disappointing.

When we tried to book the appointment to see the person who is responsible for exemptions, we were told she was on holidays and nobody was covering her absence (ffs!).

Then when we did get an appointment why couldn't revenue have checked to see if the model was in their database when they were running through all our documentation to ensure that we were exempt from VRT and had owned the vehicle for longer than 6 months?

Surely a check at that stage would save a lot of time, especially when the dogs in the street know that different trim levels are released in different countries so there's a high possibility that the car being imported is going to have a different model trim name. It's hardly a surprise now is it?

    Grrr. :pac:

    /feel better now.

The highest spec they had here at the time would have been the SVE and even that would not have the same kit as yours.

The problem you are experiencing is that the VRT appraisal process is farmed out to the NCT these days. They have access to a database that can tell them what spec the majority of mainstream cars came with from the factory. However if it is not on the database they then have to submit a query with Revenue and wait for them to come back with an answer. Revenue are the most efficient Government department when it comes to collecting taxes but may not be so quick when it comes to issuing exemptions, etc.
