    Hi folks,
I've a good bull weanling I want to take to a show and sale next month. He is black but has that brownish/orange hair you sometimes see on cattle. I was wondering would it be a copper shortage and would a bolus sort it? Just want him looking his best for sale.
Cant post pic due to post count.
    Thanks.

My understanding of the bolus is that it's slow acting and longer acting, so would have little impact in the short term.
A copper injection would be faster acting. In certain cases we would give both. But I'm not a vet.

Bring him in and give him a good brush down. See if it comes out.

A worm dose can help remove the old coat too- if that's what the problem is. Also some nuts with a little tonic in it to up the mins/vits.

Is it linseed oil the horse men use to give the coat a shine?

One or two raw eggs with a handfull of meal every day for a few days & his coat will be shining.

Look up relevant datasheets, usually weight limit.

Very easy get confused between copper deficiency and the brown tinge all black cattle get when shedding their annual coat ...I'd be inclined got go with a good wash and curry comb for him to shift the brown hair also any drench with selenium and cobalt is good.....ie endospec sc or fasinex sc etc.

We used the bolus this year and are very happy with how stock are looking and thriving. But noticed nothing for a few weeks. I'd say you'd be best with a multi vit shot, a copper shot and brush him down as the others have suggested.

Yeah. Grovite forte I think. Good stuff too. From memory 100ml after calving I used to give the cows, and 50ml to the younger stock.
We tend to feed a lot of minerals now on the silage or in meal, but I often think I'd chance the Grovite again.
