Hi all, I am just looking for some advice in relation to the ireland italy match.

There is an offer on mydealpage.ie at the moment to purchase tickets for the match and accommodation for 1 night for 99 per person. it does not include flights

can anyone who has gone in previous years please advise if i would be better off purchasing this deal, or just buying the tickets myself and arranging flights and accommodation or if it would be better value to go with someone like budget travel?

    Thanks in advance

If you're fussy about getting good seats or staying in a nice hotel, stay away. If you're just going for the craic then fire away.

Flights won't be less than 500 quid though...

A few lads at work are doing this game, I think they've done a two flight trip as Dublin/Rome is gone too expensive.

Match tickets should be easy enough to buy online and you should be able to book a hotel now and pay on checkout.

Ya, I was looking up flights, they are very expensive

i think it might work out cheaper doing a travel package with budget travel or someone. Ill do some more research into it.

Hi all, I booked flights a while back for this match and have accommodation sorted now in a decent hostel. Just wondering about match tickets. There are plenty available on viagogo.ie at reasonable prices, I presume this is the way to go? Also, I know rugby crowds tend to be mixed but can anyone suggest what area of the Stadio Olimpico I should be looking to buy the tickets in? cheers.

Try to avoid the Curva Nord or Curva Sud if you can afford it. The arch of the stadium means you're miles away, especially if you're further back.

Hi Neil, thanks for that, will avoid those areas. Would the Distinti (corner areas) be ok do you think?

Instead of using Viagogo/Seatwave etc. is it possible to buy tickets directly from the Italian Rugby Federation (Stadio Olympico is huge and I would have thought there is little demand from the Italian public for tickets). I have tried the Italian Rugby Federation website but it is very unclear.

Has anyone any experience of doing this?

    thanks.

Next year is my first year not attending the away 6 Nations game in Rome. Flights nearly double the cost than previous years (and I priced them months ago). Greedy b*stard airlines. Shame :(

I booked my flights to Rome back in March, less than €300 return for both of us for three nights, thought that was ok, getting my tickets through a work mate who is on the committee of a local club
Booked a hotel through booking.com, no deposit, pay on arrival

Club applications haven't yet gone out. It's rather unlikely that any are made available to the general public but you never know.

IRFU allocates tickets to the 4 branches. In turn, they offer allocations to their member bodies, schools and clubs for purchase. Allocations not taken up by the branches go back to the IRFU who may offer them to the supporters club.

Rome really was brilliant last weekend. Had been to all the other away 6 nations fixtures but it was my first time making the trip to Rome. Have to say it's right up there with Cardiff as my favourite away trip now. Tickets were easy to come by, we got them for face value through the Italian Federation website. We could have picked up some easily on the day if it came to it. Some Italians were even coming into the bars looking to give tickets away to anyone who wanted one.

I was there the day they won and aside from the result it was a great weekend. Fabulous city for a tourist and a passionate crowd at the game.

    It's certainly a trip I'd do again.
