Can anyone tell me which garages provide air for free in South Dublin?

Have to ask why... Isn't it easier to just go to your nearest garage, and save fuel?

At 1 euro for 5 mins of air not really

Not if the garage 200m further down the road is giving the stuff away for free...

Im not sure about your area but around me Maxol dont charge. They might however have one of them shopping trolley contraptions on the nozzle that you need a Euro coin to release, but you get it back.

"South Dublin" is a bit vague, indicating the OP is prepared to travel to save this €1. OK, fair enough.. I didn't realise this is a thing. :D

Only compressed air. Normal air is free.

Use of the compressor, not the air itself. I think it's a good idea if it means the equipment is maintained. Usually broken around here.

I know the topaz in Kilkenny is set up that you have to put in a 1 euro deposit which you get back when finished using the air compressor. I would assume all the topaz garages are set up the same way.

Some garages have a coin operated release...you might think its a "pay-for"...but you get your coin back....i wouldnt pay for it...rather drive on a flat...:p

I avoid garages that charge for air out of principle.

It won't turn the tide but it might make some garages think twice before making it a revenue stream

Even at €1 a pop it's not a revenue stream for the station. All that happens is that the ones that provide "free compressed" air charge more for other items like fuel!

There's a cost to running a compressor while the shop is open. The hoses/nozzles aren't cheap and get damaged/stolen regularly.

If you want "free" air buy your own compressor and see how free it is.

I have a air compressor but that is totally irrelevant.

Garage who doesn't supply air, water & toilets free of charge isn't worth doing business with.

What next put euro in electric meter so the out side lights will come on so I can see at night when puming fuel.

These aren't free to the garage so if they don't charge at the point of use they have to ad it to other items, bushinesses aren't charities so no matter what they have to charge for every service they provide.

I only came into this thread to see what air tires were. Disappointed.

OP, get a foot pump and a pressure gauge and look after your tyres yourself. If you're feeling lazy, get an air compressor that runs from the cigarette lighter socket.

Don't see the problem with charging, as long as the pump is calibrated. There are plenty of free air pumps around North County Dublin but they all vary on the readings by as much as 10 psi
