Does anybody know where to get the best bowl of chowder in dublin, either city centre or southside?

    I live in Donnybrook..

    thanks

Moved to the Dublin City Forum OP, you're more likely to find people who have eaten chowder in Dublin here.

I love the chowder in the Waterloo on Baggot Street. Love it. It's been a few years since I last had a bowl but I also have really fond memories of the chowder with chorizo in the Winding Stair, just at the ha'penny bridge.

O'Neills on Suffolk Street does a good chowder.

Cool, thanks for the replies. I used to drink in O'Neills quite a bit a couple years ago, never got their chowder for some reason....though copious pints of Guinness and chowder dont mix well in my experience! :)

Have been to the Waterloo a few times before but never ate there. It's only about 15min walk from where i live now. must check out the chowder at the weekend so!

hmm, just checked the Waterloo online menus, food looks great but no sign of any chowder. :(

Matt The Threshers on Pembroke Rd should be good.
They ''specialise' their menu on seafood.
Michelle Obama went there on her visit.

I'd expect good pubs / restaurants in Howth to do a good chowder also.

The last time I got chowder there was at lunch about a month ago (and I can see it on their cached lunch menu but not live at the site) I wonder if it's seasonal. Hope I haven't been a chowder tease!

The Harbourmaster does pretty amazing chowder. It's not on their online dinner menu, but they do serve it still.

Be warned - it comes as a starter but you will be fairly full afterwards!!!
