Hi there, 29 year old Dutchman with Irish parents. I come over to Ireland (mainly Belfast area) about 4 to 5 times a year for a fortnight.

As a young child I had some trouble with eczema, but when I was in my teens this went away and I havn't really been troubled by it since.

But every time I come to Ireland, my eczema comes back within a matter of 2-3 days. I'm not talking about a wee rash somewhere on my bum, no i mean full on eczema attack, all over my legs/torso/arms.

At first I thought it must just be me or it's a coincidence, I have tried everything to see what it could be. Different washing-machine liquid when I'm here, not drink the milk etc But I am now convinced there is something here, in Ireland, which makes me break out like this.

Not only do I get eczema when I'm here, I always tend to get a bad cough too. The eczema outbreak always comes with cough/sneezing/being short on breath.

When I return to Amsterdam it always clears up within a matter of days. These observations are based on about 30 visits to Ireland over the last 5 years or so. I thought it was me and I was going crazy but I'm 100% convinced there is something here that is triggering it. It might just be the general miserableness of Belfast that's doing this to my body haha :D

Each time I come I'm just always already dreading the outbreak that always comes within 2-3 days :(

Does anyone have any clue as to what could be causing this?

    Thanks in advance / Groetjes

Edit : maybe air humidity or minerals in the water or something?
