    Simple hypothetical question.
Say- I have 22lr rifle sitting in the Uk or USA and I have just acquired an Irish licence for that firearm. Do I still need to apply for an importation licence.

I have a two reasons why I'm asking!
One- I have found a lovely little gun that I want.

Two- I recently read in parliamentary questions that the minister for justice stated that no importaion licence was required for licenced fireams hence she was unable to correlate a figure for the number of restricted licences given out by examining "importation licences".
Is there any other paperwork that might be required by customs such as article 7's from other europan countries.
Is the USA a different fish!
Ps I'm not enquiring about export doc's from either country at the moment.
    Ans received with thanks
